The War Memorial is in the grounds of Blackburn Cathedral. Originally it was at St Michael & All Angels Church,  Whalley New Road/Palm St until it was demolished when it was moved to its present home about 1981.

WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR

1914 - 1918

THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE

 

 

Apparently it is thought that there may originally have been name plaques on the memorial

with up to 200 names.

 

 

 

      One of the plaques which are around the top of the memorial, the others are:-

 

               France  Belgium      North Sea Salonica        Africa  Gallipoli
