THEIR DEEDS LIVE FOR EVER
AND CALL UPON US
TO EMULATE THEIR COURAGE
AND DEVOTION TO DUTY

This memorial  was commissioned by the White Star Line to commemorate the bravery of the 122 engineers on the Titanic who remained at their posts operating electrical and pumping equipment to ensure that the ship stayed afloat for as long as was possible..

However during the construction it was altered to include all mariners who lost their lives during World War I.
