There is a plaque on the rear with the words
ERECTED BY VOLUNTARY SUBSCRIPTIONS
IN MEMORY OF THE FENTON MEN
WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR
AND WHOSE NAMES ARE RECORDED
ON A TABLET IN THE TOWN HALL
